Released back in 2002, which means it’s over 20 years old already, the Ferrari Enzo was one of the most advanced supercars of its time. Inspired by the Ferrari F1 team and its racing experience and winning habit, this supercar was all the rage back then, and it still is today.

The Enzo packs a carbon-fiber body, minimal interiors and active aerodynamic features. A 65° V12 engine was fitted under the stylish yet performance-oriented sculpted bodywork, with a 660 hp output enough to propel the Italian design towards a 218mph top speed.

Only 399 units of the Ferrari Enzo were ever produced, making this supercar a very rare and expensive gem.

28. Aston Martin One-77 – 220 mph / 354.2 kph

Aston Martin One-77

This stunning limited-edition coupe was taken to new extremes by Aston Martin’s bespoke division team, with the company producing only 77 units of this supercar and allowing just a select few to enjoy this incredible offering.

Hiding beneath the outstanding exterior is a massive 7.3-liter V12 Cosworth engine, which develops 750 hp and 553 ft lbs of torque. The One-77 supercar was built around an ultra light aluminum and carbon fiber chassis and it will do 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

Back in 2009, this Aston Martin was capable of reaching 220 mph and even though it’s not the fastest car in this list it’s definitely one of the most beautiful supercars out there.

27. Rimac Concept_One – 221 mph / 355.81 kph

Rimac Concept_One

As stunning as this vehicle is, would you believe this supercar was entirely designed and developed in Croatia? Hailing from an up and coming company that’s now a household name, the first road-legal production vehicle from Rimac is an electric hypercar that was part of a very limited series of merely 10 units.

A world’s first, the Concept_One featured four electric motors, one per each wheel, amounting to a total of 1,224 hp and 1,180 ft lbs of torque. While you take in that bit of information, you must realize the amount of innovation and technology that went into developing such a vehicle.

How does 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds sound like? What about a 221 mph top speed? Let’s not forget about the visual impact of this vehicle, thanks to its luxury interiors and uniquely designed exterior.

26. Pagani Huayra – 238 mph / 383.18 kph

Pagani Huayra
caranddriver.com

The Pagani Zonda shocked the world with its powerful engine roar and incredible specs, but the Italian supercar maker knew it had to do the impossible to come up with a new car that’s even better. And they’ve somehow did it!

Named after the god of wind, the Pagani Huayra is the result of wildest dreams of master Horacio Pagani and his amazing team. A 720-hp twin-turbocharged V12 sourced from Mercedes-AMG puts everything in motion, with the help of a seven-speed single-clutch gearbox.

An impressive 0 to 60 mph time of only 2.8 seconds is achieved thanks to the car’s active aerodynamics, as well as four independent flaps designed to attain the ideal balance between downforce and drag.

The Huayra is faster than wind, with a top speed of 238 mph, that easily earns it a place among the fastest cars in the world. Please note that only 100 units of the original Huayra were produced, with various variations having been released afterwards. Like the one you’re about to see next.

25. Pagani Huayra BC Roadster – 240 mph / 386.4 kph

Pagani Huayra BC Roadster
thesupercarblog.com

Speaking of Huayra variations, here is the more radical Huayra BC Roadster. Introduced in 2019, this supercar shares more than a few similarities with the original model. However, there are a few things that make it different, things that are worth mentioning.

The “BC” in the moniker of this entry is an homage to Benny Caiola, an Italian-born businessman who bought the very first Zonda. Showing off an open-top design, this seductive automotive jewel seems to have been inspired both by a love for stylish aesthetics and modern science.

The very same twin-turbocharged V12 is there, but it now develops 791-hp and allows the Pagani car to achieve a top speed of 240 mph – it seems fitting, considering the overall aggressive attitude of the car. Please note that only 40 units were produced and they were all sold very fast.

24. McLaren F1 – 240.1 mph / 386.56 kph

McLaren F1
supercars.net

Probably no other supercar can achieve the level of stardom the McLaren F1 has attained over the years, Imagined by the acclaimed race car designer Gordon Murray, the McLaren F1 was revealed in 1993 and became the first carbon-fiber production car ever built.

The iconic McLaren featured a powerful 6.1-liter V12 engine crafted by a team from BMW, and the very same engine developed 618 hp and 479 ft lbs of torque. Translated, this means 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds – pretty impressive figures, even by today’s standards. Did we mention we were dealing with a naturally aspirated engine?

The F1 set a world speed record back in 1998, only to be topped by Koenigsegg CCR in 2005. It still remains one of the greatest cars of all time.

23. Koenigsegg Regera – 248 mph / 399.28 kph

Koenigsegg Regera
supercars.net

The brilliant Swedish team from Koenigsegg has been manufacturing some outrageous vehicles from the very beginning. Their Regera model was introduced in 2015 and it was designed as a luxurious grand tourer.

However, by the looks of things – and the 248 mph top speed – the car manufacturer just can’t help itself from breaking the rules. Their hybrid design makes use of a twin-turbo V8 engine working alongside three electric motors – coupled with their proprietary Direct Drive powertrain technology.

In 2019, the Regera did 0 to 249 mph in 31.49 sec – a world record.

22. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo – 248 mph / 399.28 kph

Saleen S7 Twin Turbo

A personal favorite, the Saleen supercar will easily grab a smile or two – even from European car enthusiasts, and that’s saying a lot. The Saleen S7 Twin Turbo was hand-built in California and was quite a beast to handle.

With a top speed of 248 mph and 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, you had to have the reflexes to match its speedy nature. Featuring a carbon fiber body, and a super aerodynamic design with carefully considered downforce, this American-made vehicle was a dream come true for some people.

What started off as a Bugatti Veyron challenger, this street-legal racer had a tuned-up 7.0-liter twin-turbo Ford engine that developed 750 hp – more than enough to prove a point.

21. Koenigsegg CCXR – 249 mph / 400.89 kph

Koenigsegg CCXR

And.. we’re back to Koenigsegg. Their very skilled and passionate team has been known to develop more than a couple ridiculously fast vehicles over time, and the CCXR is part of that list.

The world’s first green supercar, which is to say it ran on recyclable ethanol, had a 4.7-liter twin-supercharged engine working its magic to deliver 1,018 hp.

As a result, the CCXR achieved 249 mph, and no one complained about that. This very fast and quite stylish vehicle stirred big waves among car enthusiasts. A quick glimpse of the CCXR’s overall aesthetics and design, and you understand its purpose though – speed.

20. Koenigsegg Gemera – 249 mph / 400.89 kph

Koenigsegg Gemera

I’m not sure this works like.. in the movies – say the name three times, and the character appears. If so, having a Koenigsegg Gamera parked in our driveway would certainly make our year a lot better. But what’s really magic about this car is that it’s actually the brand’s first four-seater hybrid.

Considered a touring car, at least by the car manufacturer, the spacious yet performance-oriented vehicle will easily speeds of up to 249 mph thanks to a camless piston engine working alongside three electric motors.

With a total output of 1,700 hp, all-wheel steering system enabled and much more impressive state of the art technologies, the Gamera is going to be produced in a limited run of only 300 units.

Aston Martin Valkyrie
carscoops.com

Valkyrie is the name chosen for Aston Martin’s first hybrid supercar, a wild-looking vehicle that will only excite 150 drivers before its manufacture will come to an end.

The striking aerodynamic lines covering a carbon fiber bodywork have been inspired by Formula 1, while the collaboration with Red Bull Racing Advanced Technologies ensure performance will not be an issue with this vehicle.

Aston Martin engineers have decided that the Valkyrie, or the AM-RB 001 as its codenamed, should feature a 6.5-liter V12 engine sourced from Cosworth – which works alongside an electric motor – to output a total of 1,160 hp.

This should be more than enough for any thrill-seeker, and with 0 to 60 mph taking merely 2.3 seconds, there is no reason drivers might complain.

17. McLaren Speedtail – 250 mph / 402.5 kph

McLaren Speedtail
ro.drivemag.com

For a long time, the brand’s McLaren F1 remained king of all speed freaks, but there comes a time when a king must step down. The stylish McLaren Speedtail has been chosen as its successor, with the central driver’s position reminding everyone how it all started.

The Speedtail model represents McLaren’s attempt at a Hyper-GT, which means a hybrid powertrain puts everything in motion. A 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 stands at the heart of this vehicle, helping the car output a total of 1,035 hp.

As a result, the Speedtail will accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in merely 3 seconds, and will keep going towards a top speed of 250 mph. Driving towards the future, this streamlined carbon fiber hypercar has replaced the side mirrors with retractable cameras.

The record-setting McLaren F1 was finally beat, and the constant evolution of the Bugatti model has since inspired us all. Powered by an 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine, developing as many as 1,001 ponies, this beast only required 2.5 seconds to go from 0 to 62 mph.

The fastest, most powerful and most expensive car on the market in 2005 displayed the Bugatti logo, a versatile supercar that would forever remain in our hearts and is still one of the most incredible cars ever built.

The SSC Ultimate Aero TT managed to achieve a top speed of 256 mph, with a 0 to 60 mph time of 2.7 seconds, thanks to a twin-turbocharged V8 engine sourced from a Corvette vehicle.

With a total output of 1,180 hp, the SSC weighed far less than the Veyron model – which meant that future engine upgrades would allow the SSC vehicle to break through its own speed record.

14. Rimac Nevera C Two – 258 mph / 415 kph

Rimac Nevera C Two
electrive.com

At $2.4 million per unit, this isn’t what most people would consider an affordable car. Rimac’s fully electric hypercar was certainly worth the cost, as the Nevera C Two boasts one 120 kWh battery pack powering four electric motors.

When you’re a petrolhead perhaps that sounds boring, but the fact that this machine can reach a top speed of 258 mph will certainly get your heart pumping. Rimac is a name that’s already associated with state of the art technologies and ravishing speeds today, which is why it came as no surprise that the Nevera was designed to push boundaries.

This car will do 0 to 62 mph in 1.85 seconds, which is mind-blowing to say the least. If you feel somewhat scared about that, please take note of the fact that the manufacturer has anticipated that very reaction. As such, the vehicle has been equipped with 13 cameras meant to aid the driver, by optimizing on-track performance in real-time.

13. Bugatti Chiron – 261 mph / 420.21 kph

Bugatti Chiron
bugatti.com

The very exclusive and super powerful production vehicle features almost the same outrageous yet stylish design lines. The Bugatti DNA is still on display, while innovative technologies quickly point out this hypercar was meant to be ultra-fast.

Packing a quad-turbocharged 8-liter W16 engine, good for about 1,500 hp, this Bugatti also features titanium and carbon fiber throughout its bodywork, making sure no weight-oriented optimization is ignored.

Hennessey Venom GT
supercars.net

On Valentine’s Day in 2014, the American car manufacturer Hennessey Performance seized the World Record for Fastest Car. At least for a while, as their Venom GT blew Bugatti and everyone else out the water and set a new speed record.

Following two years of intense research and development, 29 units of this incredible vehicle were produced and sold at $1.2 million each. The Venom GT showed off a daring and seductive design, built around a light carbon-fiber chassis, which might explain for the 0 to 60 mph time of merely 3.05 seconds.

Maxxing out at 270 mph, this car was actually inspired by the Lotus Elise / Exige, although significant modifications were made before the powerful beast featured a 7.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

And with 1,244 hp and 1,287 ft lbs of torque on tap, the Hennessey Venom GT will get your heart racing.

The Agera R was designed to drive in the tire tracks of the CC series, and the Swedish brand never disappoints. Manufactured between 2011 and 2014, this limited series of the Koenigsegg Agera only included 18 units.

As such, it has become a collector’s item – one that feels incredible driving around with no purpose whatsoever. The performance, handling, and its visual appeal all blend in to result in a very impressive vehicle, one that managed to set several land-speed records at the time it was released.

Koenigsegg made sure that the aluminum 5.0-liter V8 was outputting enough power to go around, 1,140 hp to be more exact, resulting in a top speed of 273mph. How does 0 to 300 km/h and back to 0 in 21.19 seconds sound like? That sounds like a Guinness World Record, at least for a while.

9. Koenigsegg Agera RS – 277.8 mph / 447.8 kph

7. SSC Tuatara – 295 mph / 474.8 kph

SSC Tuatara
forbes.ro

Yes, you read that correctly: 295 mph. The same American company that ended Bugatti Veyron’s run as the fastest car in the world with the Ultimate Aero TT, came up with something even more extreme.

Shelby Super Cars (or simply SSC) has designed and built a brand new supercar called Tatuara, that’s well worth the time and effort it takes to admire it. It might hit 295 mph in its production form, but SSC even claims that this car can even reach 331 mph. The bad news was that this wasn’t exactly designed to be a road-legal automotive project.

With an overall design inspired by fighter jets, packing plenty of carbon fiber, the vehicle features a 5.9-liter flat-plane-crank V8 that develops 1,750hp. The SSC Tuatara will accelerate to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 2.5 seconds.

6. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport – 300 mph / 483 kph

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport
bugatti.com

Bugatti has been known to develop its fair share of super fast vehicles, for decades now. The upgraded quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine hiding beneath the outrageous exterior of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ is well worth your attention.

It may not earn the Chiron the number on spot in this list, but the Super Sport 300+ was the very first car to cross the 300 mph barrier and that’s worth mentioning, right? Besides, this isn’t what we’d call a slow car.

Showing off extreme aerodynamics, stunning aesthetics and incredible performance, this Bugatti will do 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds. The record-setting monster benefits from 1,600 hp, a carbon fiber body, magnesium wheels, and titanium exhaust.

With only 30 units produced for a few very lucky people, this thing is an ultra rare treat.

Once back to the drawing board, the brilliant designers and engineers from Bugatti had to make the historic supercar maker stand out of a very exclusive crowd yet again. A new engine was built from scratch for this car, an 8.0-liter W16 developing 1,825 hp and 1,364 lb-ft of torque.

The Bugatti Bolide is a stunning, powerful and ultra lightweight hypercar aiming to show us once again that their W16 is an innovative example of engineering that’s meant to put the entire world in motion.

Built around a carbon-fiber frame, this jaw dropping vehicle will easily help you reach a top speed of 310 mph – if you have $4.7 million to spend on one, that is.

2. Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut – 330 mph / 531 kph

Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut
topgear.com

Koenigsegg’s name should be familiar by now and possibly scary if you’re not a big fan of high speed thrills. Besides Bugatti, SSC and Hennessey, the Swedish automaker is always on the quest for the title of the fastest car in the world.

And that’s where the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut comes in.

After upgrading the twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 engine they fitted within the Agera RS model to develop 1,600 hp, the company’s research team worked on new and innovative ways to reduce weight and improve the car’s handling, and the resulting vehicle was lighter and more aerodynamic than ever.

It still featured climate control, infotainment, and more, but this car was able to brag about a top speed of 330 mph. This should be enough to put a smile on anyone’s face.

1. Devel Sixteen – 347 mph / 550 kph

Devel Sixteen
supercars.net

In theory, this is the fastest vehicle around. Still in development, the Devel Sixteen is all about a claimed top speed – for now – but it’s still exciting to talk about. Introduced a few years back, at the 2013 Dubai International Motor Show, this jaw dropping project had impressive numbers to brag about.

As mentioned earlier, with a claimed top speed of 347 mph, the Devel Sixteen will easily leave all other cars on this list behind. It’s powered by a massive quad-turbo 12.3liter V16 engine, that was designed to output 5,007 hp – we can’t even begin to grasp that number.

Considering that the vehicle will be road-legal and that it will supposedly do 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds, if you got the money: go for it!

Final Thoughts

We’ve taken a thrilling ride through the world of the fastest cars today. All these amazing four wheel machines show us what’s possible when great minds push the limits of engineering and speed.

Unusual or not, names such as the McLaren Senna (208 mph / 334.88 kph), the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera (211 mph / 339.71 kph), the McLaren 720S ( 212 mph / 341.32 kph), the Ford GT (216 mph / 347.76 kph), and even the Ferrari LaFerrari (217mph / 349.37 kph) or the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (217mph / 349.37 kph) didn’t make it to this list.

They still inspire a sense of rule-breaking engineering, style, opulence, exclusivity and record-breaking speed. However, they’re a bit slow when compared to the outrageous automotive projects we have mentioned here.

There is still time for things to change and the next couple of years will surely bring forth even more impressive feats of automotive engineering. We will try to keep up and update this article as we can dream about a future with even faster, more exciting rides.

So, let’s tip our hats to the designers, engineers and the brave drivers who put these cars through their paces!
